Magical day

Every once in a while, while traveling or just in normal life, a day comes along that can only be described as Magical.  That was January 5, 2013 for me. For starters, we had a wonderful abundance of lovely market food and fun gifts, then we helped Sydney celebrate their 'Sydney days'.

yum!

that's right, the day would not be complete without dinosaurs

Getting ready to dig in.

Digging in!
Yum!

This  man was running a marathon on a treadmill in Hyde Park!  Music and dancing alongside.

There are very conspicuous signs that say no swimming, but on the Days of Sydney, I don't think anyone cares about that.

Jumping for joy as the gate opens

giant rubber ducky!!!

See, even the sky is smiling today!

Chillin' in the hammocks, the convicts probably didn't have as much fun here...

Goanna

This guy just walked right through the campground, paying no human any heed.

The cockatoos however were not happy to have it around, you always knew when one was around because of the squawking.  Lucky for us the birds kept the lizard at bay, fighting it off.

Australia's capital

We spent the day exploring Australia's capital city and capitol building.  The capitol building is really cool, especially the feature that you can walk on grass on the top of the building!

We love jumping pictures!

View from one tower to the other, apparently this is Mordor...

Lounging in a couch from the future.

This is the very newest model, get used to it people, all cars will look like this in 2013!

New years eve

It wasn't quite a typical Burt New Year's Eve party, but then we were missing quite a few people.  We did the best we could with what we had, we got a nice 'apartment' and enjoyed some TV for the first time in a while. And we saw the fireworks over Canberra, the capital city of Australia.  Oh, and we beat everyone in the USA to the year 2013!

'Homemade' pizza for dinner

Welcome 2013! Banana grams style

Open the bubbly!

Hot chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, Dan knows how to double fist!

Some people do shots on New Year's eve, I do Tim Tam Slams!!!!  (note how much fun they are having in the background.  Hey, don't blame us, we've been TV deprived!)
